PowerPhone Completes Consulting Project for City of New Haven Friday November 13, 2009

PowerPhone, Inc., a leading provider of emergency communications call handling solutions, announced the successful completion of a consulting project for the City of New Haven, Connecticut.
During the four month engagement, PowerPhone worked collaboratively with New Haven officials to evaluate all aspects of the city's emergency communications operations, including a comprehensive analysis of standard operating procedures and policies. The scope of services also included enhancements to the city's 9-1-1 training plans, job descriptions, and organizational charts.
Based upon PowerPhone's recommendations, New Haven intends to consolidate operations under a new Department of Public Safety Communications. Restructuring the organization is expected to increase efficiency, streamline response times and decrease spending, as operators will be cross-trained in police, fire and EMS call taking.
"The PowerPhone team was thorough, professional and on target with their findings," said Robert Smuts, the city's chief administrative officer. "We have already implemented many of PowerPhone's recommendations to ensure New Haven, the cultural capital of Connecticut, remains the best place to live and work in the state."
The PowerPhone assessment team was led by Ret. Lt. Col. Marjorie Acker, a twenty-seven year veteran of the Connecticut State Police.
"We were pleased to assist the City of New Haven in proactively enhancing their emergency communications operations," said Chris Salafia, PowerPhone CEO. "As a business headquartered in New Haven County, it was especially rewarding to apply our top subject matter experts, and leverage global best practices, to help facilitate positive change locally."
PowerPhone has conducted similar assessment and procedural development projects for agencies across the U.S., including the United Nations Safety and Security Service in New York City. Click here to learn more about PowerPhone's consulting services.
